  1. What is GSM?

    GSM (originally "Groupe de travail Spéciale pour les services Mobiles".) Global Systems for Mobile Communications. Originally used mainly in Europe, has now spread worldwide to become the most widely used mobile technology in today's world. GSM is now used by over 70% of worldwide mobile subscribers and still growing.
  2. Will my phone work on Saipan?

    DOCOMO PACIFIC uses GSM in the 1900 MHz PCS spectrum.  All GSM phones that work in the US should work on Guam unless the phone has been carrier locked by the original network.  Also if your phone is a GSM Tri-Band (900/1800/1900) or Quad-Band phone it should work with DOCOMO PACIFIC. GSM Dual band phones will not work on Guam.
  3. What is a Tri-Band Phone?

    A Tri-Band phone is one that works in 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz frequencies.  This is the preferred phone for the astute traveler.
  4. What is a Dual Band Phone?

    A Dual Band phone works only in the 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies and will not work on Guam.
  5. What is GPRS?

    A radio technology called General Packet Radio Service for GSM networks. It incorporates packet-switching protocols, has shorter set-up time for ISP connections, and offers the possibility to charge by amount of data sent rather than connect time. It is designed to support flexible data transmission rates typically up to 20 or 30 Kbps (with a theoretical maximum of 171.2 Kbps), as well as continuous connection to the network.
  6. How can I recharge my balance if I am a prepaid subscriber?

    First, make sure the card is not expired. DOCOMO PACIFIC subscribers can recharge their balance by following one of two methods.
    • Method 1:Voice Interactive
      • Step 1:Dial 555 wait for the message to complete.
      • Step 2:Enter the scratch card PIN.
      • Step 3:After the recording press 1 on your keypad to apply balance.
      • Step 4:A message will play with your updated balance.
    • Method 2: TOP-UP
      • Step 1: Press *111*CARDPINNUMBER# & (Press SEND)
      • Step 2:A reply text message will come back with your updated balance.
  7. How can I check my balance if I am a prepaid subscriber?

    DOCOMO PACIFIC subscribers can check their balance by following one of the two following methods.
    • Method 1: Dial from your GSM handset 888 and listen to the recording.
    • Method 2: Press *112*# & SEND.  You will receive an SMS reply with your balance.
  8. What are expiration dates of the new DOCOMO PACIFIC GSM prepaid cards?

    New GSM prepaid cards expire after 30 days of activation. Only $5, $10 & $20 GSM prepaid cards are available.
  9. What features will I have if I port in from DOCOMO PACIFIC's CDMA to GSM network?

    Transferring your CDMA phone to GSM will be considered as a port-in. We are currently working to have features available upon porting in from a DOCOMO PACIFIC's CDMA to GSM or vice versa. The same LNP limitations will apply. The following features will not be available upon porting in: SMS from GSM to CDMA & vice versa, BREW from CDMA to GSM, MAX services from CDMA to GSM.
  10. Can I use my wireless phone when I travel?

    Yes. DOCOMO PACIFIC provides domestic and international roaming.
